| Counting the Cost of Alcohol – How do you measure up? Counting the Cost of Alcohol - How do you measure up?, is a five session programme using interactive workshops designed to enable individuals to explore issues related to alcohol use and misuse that impact on individuals, families and communities. This five session programme covers three general themes related to alcohol use and misuse. These themes include: - Alcohol and you: An objective exploration of drinking in a drinking culture - I can change: An examination and application of the process of change - Developing Coping Skills: When someone I care about drinks too much.
Talking to children about the risks and dangers of alcohol before they start to experiment with it, can help them make responsible decisions about drinking. Parents tend to be hung-up on the other problems that kids can get into like unprotected sex or drugs. Alcohol tends to be put on the back burner but the reality is that these problems are more than likely to be fuelled by alcohol. This programme therefore has an extra benefit as it will help parents to understand how alcohol is linked to risk-taking behaviour and the dangers associated with it.
The course is delivered by our specially trained Community Facilitators, also known as peer-educators. Click here for content of sessions
