| Have a change of Heart – Cardiovascular disease awareness
The ‘Have a change of Heart’ Programme helps people understand their cardiovascular system and how to improve their lifestyle and avoid risk factors.
This programme is really practical making it easy for people to try new things. For example, we all know we are supposed to have five portions of fruit and vegetables a day but many people are unaware of what size makes up a portion or they may not realise the amount of salt that is hidden in processed foods and even things we think of as relatively healthy, like a tin of soup, may have too much salt. Through this programme our Community Facilitators will demonstrate to participants how to read labels and help people to understand the amount of saturated fat, sugar, and salt that they are eating.
The three session programme also covers topics such as understanding cardiovascular disease, risk factors such as alcohol and smoking, and how to spot the signs of stroke and heart attack. It then aims to help participants identify how they can break habits and adopt a more positive lifestyle.
The programme is delivered by our Community Facilitators who deliver the information in a ‘jargon-free’ way.
